Constructed Spaces
Red Room: Constructed Spaces extracts found geometric forms from their context and manipulates them into entirely new abstract compositions. There is an emphasis on the color red and its intersections with other elements. Entirely new spaces develop through photo manipulation, relying heavily on flipping elements on their various axises as means of collaborating the visual elements. While the gigantic presentation emphasizes the constructed forms, it simultaneously reduces the sampled elements into a unified space. The original subjects' true scale and function is masked to ultimately suggest an entirely new type of space. The constructions isolate and resituate found dynamic forms into massive interwoven textures. Extracting only what is essential, mirroring it, and manipulating it, reveals details hidden within the base images. Photo manipulation acts a tool to further abstract the already abstract base imagery and dissolve the boundaries between pure visual art and photography.
